The story

MSE’s brief to us was simple. It wanted to elevate the MSE experience by providing its community with more personalised money-saving opportunities via a new mobile app. Its vision for the app was that it should provide its community with more tailored and personalised content - including weekly tips, savings alerts and tools - based on their habits, behaviours and goals.   As the UK faces an unprecedented cost-of-living crisis, our work with Martin Lewis and the MSE team is having a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families across the UK.

What we created



To deliver a flagship product for MSE, we immersed ourselves in its brand values, its ‘whole market’ approach, and made the right connections with key stakeholders - including Martin Lewis.



We collaborated with the MSE team to build up a picture of its full solution range, its existing architecture, and its wider group’s aspirations. From this, we synthesised a single vision for what the MSE app should be.

We leveraged Open Banking functionality to drive content recommendations and related actions to users through the MyMSE section. We also enhanced the tools that MSE members can use too, making them more powerful and providing more accurate and tailored outcomes as a result of unleashing Open Banking.



Within just 6 months, we delivered the mobile project end-to-end, helping both the MSE brand and the wider Group reach a number of important firsts. MSE could now provide log-in capabilities for members, and the unlocking of Open Banking functionality supported in enhancing products and services across a host of wider Group platforms.
